The Sew Bee-Cause Foundation
At The Sew Bee-Cause Foundation, we believe safe hygiene and sustainable menstrual products are a fundamental right, not a privilege. Our volunteer-powered Sew Empowered programme works to break down period barriers through three key actions:
Educating: Providing respectful, accessible menstrual health education.
Equipping: Distributing sustainable products, like our Angel Wings© reusable pads, to those in need.
Empowering: Training Menstrual Health Ambassadors to spread knowledge and dignity within their local communities.

At The Sew Bee-Cause Foundation, our purpose is driven entirely by community and care, not profit. We are committed to breaking down period inequity, advancing menstrual dignity, and protecting our environment through dedicated volunteer action.
Volunteer-Powered Action
Every initiative we run is powered by passionate volunteers and generous fabric and other donations. By up-cycling pre-loved fabrics, we craft complete Angel Wings© care kits—containing 8 reusable pads (4 midi and 4 maxi), underwear, soap, a crochet soap saver, and a Use and Care Guide—ensuring individuals receive holistic, dignified care.
Purpose-Driven Impact
Our work bridges menstrual equity, environmental responsibility, and collective action. By partnering with like-minded corporations and community organisations, we scale our reach to distribute complete Angel Wings© care kits and deliver health education through our "Sew Empowered" programme—diverting fabric waste while driving lasting, systemic change together.

Our Inspirational Journey
From Rags to Riches to
Sew Bee-Cause
Our story begins in 2014 when Barbara Evans, with a heart full of compassion, founded a social group named Rags to Riches in Dubai. A community of like-minded individuals dedicated to sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, and crafting for a meaningful cause, Rags to Riches quickly became a beacon of creativity and compassion.
In 2018, a transformative moment marked the evolution of our group. Barbara, the driving force behind Rags to Riches, passed the reins to co-founders Ceri Rocca, residing in Dubai, and Fahmida Seitz, based in Abu Dhabi. This transition was not just a change; it marked the beginning of a new journey leading to the inception of Sew Bee-Cause in 2023.
Barbara, now in her home country, the UK, continues to embody the spirit of giving. Her passion for knitting and crochet remains unwavering as she generously crafts jumpers and hats, donating them to local food banks. Barbara is the inspiration behind our transition to Sew Bee-Cause, a name that reflects our commitment to positive change.
Sustainability is the heartbeat of our mission. At Sew Bee-Cause, we create clothing, toys, blankets, and reusable sanitary pads from pre-loved fabrics—bed linen, curtains, and towels, generously contributed by the largely expatriate community bidding farewell to the UAE.
Our community has transformed into a thriving hive, embodying the spirit of Sew Bee-Cause. To date, we have proudly gifted over 17,000 purpose-made clothing items for children in need and approximately 7,000 Angel Wings (our reusable sanitary pads) to young women worldwide.
